Helping Ottawa’s vulnerable children when they need it most

TAAG is thrilled to announce our new charitable arm, Capital Prosperity Foundation (CPF). Every child deserves a chance to thrive. But many children living in Ottawa experience poverty that holds them back. CPF works with local organizations to help reach children in the community who need a helping hand.
CPF has one goal: to help children in need when they need it.

Many children and youth in Ottawa go to school hungry, making it hard to focus on their studies. That’s why CPF supports the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) School Breakfast Program. Every school day, ONFE serves breakfast to 17,000 kids, giving them the fuel to reach their potential and making sure no child is left behind.

Partnering with Ottawa Police Services

We also help families put food on the table and buy household necessities, basic furniture and other vital resources through our partnership with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
OPS officers are on the ground every day, serving the community. They know the children and families who need community support. In 2023, CPF partnered with OPS and developed a program to help families in marginalized neighbourhoods across Ottawa. We tested the program with two main initiatives:

Gift Cards

Gift Cards enable families to buy food, clothing and essential household items.

Make a House a Home

Funding for families to purchase basic furniture, appliances and other vital resources.

CPF helped OPS support the community by funding six additional initiatives:

  1. Providing temporary shelter for parents and children seeking safety away from the home
  2. Distributing food baskets to families during the holiday season
  3. Sponsoring summer camp registration for vulnerable children
  4. Funding transportation and entry fees for summer camp field trips
  5. Supplying car seats to newcomers arriving in Canada
  6.  Purchasing new bike helmets for the OPS bike rodeo

The pilot project reached 110 families and 172 children in six months.

This convinced us that there is a need in the community for these programs. It inspired us to expand the programs so we can help even more vulnerable children and families.

Our new goal is to raise $250,000 per year between 2024-2027 to reach 20,000 children annually. With $0.86 of every dollar going to support local children and families, every donation makes a real difference.
