The Prosperity Stories: Zero Latency Ottawa

March 13, 2024

Meet Milad Tannous, Owner of Zero Latency Ottawa.

Fun, adventurous, and unforgettable: Zero Latency is Ottawa’s virtual reality gaming space with no wires, no limits, and next-generation technology! We interviewed Milad to learn more about his business.

What made you decide to open a virtual reality gaming business? Have you always been part of the gaming community?

As an Electrical Engineer, my decision to open a virtual reality entertainment business stemmed from a passion for innovation and immersive experiences. While I haven't always been part of the gaming community in a traditional sense, I've long been fascinated by the potential of technology to transport people to new worlds and create unforgettable experiences. Recognizing the growing popularity and potential of virtual reality, I saw an opportunity to bring this cutting-edge technology to Ottawa and provide an unparalleled entertainment experience for gamers and non-gamers alike.

What did you not expect when you opened Zero Latency?

One aspect that took me by surprise was the overwhelming positive response from our customers. While I anticipated excitement and interest in VR gaming, I didn't expect the level of enthusiasm and satisfaction expressed by our players. Their feedback and support have been instrumental in shaping our offerings and enhancing the overall experience at Zero Latency.

What are your plans in the future for Zero Latency?

Looking ahead, our goal for Zero Latency Ottawa is to continue innovating and expanding our offerings to provide even more immersive and exhilarating experiences for our customers. We're exploring new game concepts, technologies, and collaborations to stay at the forefront of the VR gaming industry. Additionally, we aim to further establish Zero Latency Ottawa as a premier destination for corporate events, team-building activities, and social gatherings.

Can you give us a run down about how a typical virtual reality game plays out?

The experience begins with a safety briefing video that explains how to use the equipment safely. The players then don their VR headsets and grab their guns before stepping into our 1800 square foot arena. After a quick mic check, the experience begins and the players are almost immediately immersed in a new reality, shooting enemies and completing challenges that simply cannot be replicated in the real world.

What kind of games do you offer. Do you have a favourite?

From zombies to pirates to killer robots, we have something for everyone. For zombie lovers, we highly recommend our newest game 'Outbreak'. If zombies are not for you, you can fight killer robots on a space station in 'Singularity' or escape Vaas and his henchmen in 'Far Cry VR'. You can also compete against each other in our player vs player game, 'Sol Raiders'.

While it's hard to pick a favorite, I have a soft spot for our post-apocalyptic zombie gameshow experience, Undead Arena; It's thrilling, intense, and always keeps players on their toes. I also proudly hold the record for the longest distance travelled within the game, and I always manage to break a sweat trying to break that record.
