Changes to the CRA Representative Service

In October 2022, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) expanded the Confirm my Representative service.

In order to grant representatives access to your CRA Business Account, you will now be required to accept an Authorization Request through My Business Account.

How to Register for My Business Account:

To get started, go to My Business Account and select "CRA register".

To validate your identity, enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Next, enter your postal code, date of birth, and an amount entered on your Income tax and benefit return either from the current tax year or the previous year. If you are a current client and do not have this information, please contact TAAG Reception at (613)234-6006 or

Then select a delivery method to receive a CRA security code, which is required to gain full access to My Business Account.

Depending on the delivery method you have chosen, you will be asked to confirm your current postal code or enter your email address.

The next step will be to create a CRA User ID and password.

Then, select and answer five security questions.

Review and agree to the terms and conditions of use by entering your newly created password and selecting "I agree".

If you have chosen to have a CRA security code issued via email, you will now be asked to contact the CRA.

This part of the registration is now complete until you receive your code.

Received your CRA security code?

Sign in to My Business Account and enter the security code when prompted.

The next step is to review and agree to the My Business Account terms and conditions of use.

Then provide your Business Number.

You will now have full access to My Business Account.

TAAG Accounting Representative Access

If you are fully registered with CRA My Business Account, please let us know and we will provide you with an authorization form to sign. Once signed, we will submit a new authorization request online.

If you have enabled email notifications, you will be notified by email that someone has requested access to your account.

You must then sign in to “My Business Account. Then under the “Authorized Representatives” section of your account accept our request. This request must be accepted within ten (10) business days, or the request will be cancelled, and a new one will need to be submitted.
