We are proud to provide our services across Canada, including Quebec (and in French). Below is an overview of our primary practice areas.
At TAAG, we provide comprehensive legal services tailored to the unique needs of organizations at every stage of their life cycle, from inception to expansion and beyond. Our solutions are designed to lay a solid legal foundation for your business, ensuring it is well-positioned for success and growth.
Formal litigation should almost always be a last resort. Even if you win, you often still lose. It is not just the treasure spent on lawyers, but also the opportunity cost of your energy and effort diverted from growing your business.
TAAG Law takes a business approach to commercial disputes. Emotion must be removed; what is the return on investment to litigate?
In most cases, a negotiated settlement strategically cauterizes your losses, secures a release, and provides you with confidence to move forward.
Whether you are a startup, an established enterprise, or a non-profit or charity, internal rules and compliance can be a blessing or a curse. We employ a business-minded approach to governance, putting safeguards in place to smoothen operations and anticipate potential disputes.
Comprehensive employment agreements and policies ensure that you can manage, discipline, and terminate employees with much greater certainty and financial exposure. Our top-to-bottom employment audits identify and rectify key risk areas for employers, bringing in robust rules and reliable agreements.
We work with you to develop debt or equity financing solutions that minimize giving up equity, preserve your control, and streamline the investor papering and funding process.
Receive the strategic advice and comprehensive legal support you need to ensure a merger or acquisition aligns with your objectives and enhances ownership value. We understand the importance of meticulous planning, due diligence, and innovative legal solutions in achieving successful outcomes.
When private cash and standard private equity placements are insufficient, TAAG Law can facilitate your creation or conversion into a public corporation or mutual fund trusts (including REITs) which can raise registered funds (e.g., RRSP, RESP, TFSA, etc.).
For many businesses and entrepreneurs, real estate is a critical asset. Whether for operations or investment, property can quickly become a liability if mismanaged. Whether buying, selling, or leasing there is always a lot at stake, and reliable due diligence is necessary to get the deal right. Whether for personal or business purchases or sales, we proactively liaise with other stakeholders, ensuring a smooth closing process and peace of mind for you.
Whether you are trying to identify rules applicable to your business or streamlining existing compliance, TAAG Law delivers effective strategies to minimize risk, clarify opaque requirements, and can take over liaising with government officials. Let us figure out the rules and forms so your business can focus on what it does best.
The rules around raising capital get complex, fast: creating barriers to further growth. We streamline securities compliance, developing term sheets and investment packages commensurate to your deal complexity.
We understand the critical importance of safeguarding your wealth and ensuring the continuity of your business legacy. We specialize in restructuring business holdings to reduce legal exposure and taxes, particular for succession or exit events.
Wills, powers of attorney (POAs), and trusts are crucial for any client looking to safeguard their legacy and confidently plan succession to the next generation.
Without these important tools, uncertainty, unnecessary and avoidable taxes (probate), and the lack of plan can severely deteriorate estate value.
By focusing on clarity, precision, and the unique circumstances of each client, we ensure that your final wishes are clearly articulated and equally enforceable, ensuring your estate’s smooth transition to your beneficiaries.
TAAG Law strives for transparency and fairness in its billing practices. We typically offer block pricing for most standard projects (e.g., incorporation, shareholder agreements, real estate closings, wills, capital raises or business sales, etc.). Block pricing ensures clients know exactly what they are going to pay and for what.
More abstract projects are generally supported on a billable basis (e.g., where legal research is required). Our billable hours are calculated to the second, not rounded up, and fully disclosed on your monthly invoice.
We also accept retainers for either large corporate clients or serial entrepreneurs with sophisticated holdings. Retainers are a fixed monthly fee that significantly discount legal fees, benefiting both sides.
