In case you missed it, this year for Small Business Week we featured five incredible entrepreneurs and their stories. During the interview process, we asked the following question to each entrepreneur: What does prosperity mean to you?
You can read their answers below:
“Prosperity is a state of mind for me, when I am in a good space mentally, I feel the abundance in my life. When I am not, I feel lacking. Fortunately, through support from those around me family, friends, and coworkers I feel prosperous today. It's an inside job!”
- Martin, Owner of Magpie Jewellery Inc.
“To me, prosperity means having the freedom to live life on your own terms. In other words, being truly prosperous to me is not necessarily based on making a certain amount of money, but more on creating a life which allows me to focus on what is important what makes me happy.”
- Kelly, Owner of Trove Fashion
“Prosperity is often associated with financial health and material success, but to me, it's more about family, health, and community. I wouldn't be where I am today without my family and support network with whom I have been lucky enough to have by my side throughout my whole career. To me, having a community I can count on is real success, and equally so, being healthy enough to be able to spend quality time with them and give back as often as I can.”
- Matt, Real Estate Representative
“Prosperity is often seen as a financial connotation, but for me, it is so much more. It is about creating a flourishing and healthy family life for myself and my family, and at the same time, doing that for my companies. I want to be able to build a company that offers job security in an industry that often does not have any. I want to provide benefits to my employees so that the financial toll of family life can be eased, making it easier for people to have a family. I want to create the opportunity for people to join our business as owners and managers and live out their own entrepreneurial dreams of prosperity. When that is all accomplished, it will have been prosperous in many ways for me as well—and a little financial prosperity never hurt anyone either.”
- Mike, President of Revivify Painting
“To me, prosperity means the ability to constantly grow and thrive, while embracing and persevering through the challenges that will inevitably arise on the journey. As a business owner and registered Speech-Language Pathologist working with children and adults, prosperity can be interpreted in many ways:
Prosperity is:
Prosperity is for everyone!”
- Brigitte, Owner of Key to Speech & Speech-Language Pathologist
