Meet Lucas Nault, owner of Lucas Nault Hair Studio. The salon opened in 2005 and offered a fresh option to those eager to add some green into their beauty routine: Lucas Nault Hair Studio was Ottawa’s first organic and eco-conscious salon.
Q What does prosperity mean to you?
Prosperity means to me not necessarily being like Scrooge McDuck — rolling in gold coins — but being happy, being able to pay the bills, and not struggling. It means that you can go to work in a place that you enjoy, then go home to a place that you enjoy.
Q What advice would you give to someone who wants to open their own business?
I'm not just saying this for the fact that this is what we're talking about, but my advice to anyone that's opening a business is to get a good accountant from day one and let them guide you along the way. Rather than learning the hard way, learn the right way.
Q What do you love the most about being a hairstylist?
What I love the most about doing hair is the creative outlet. We're all artists, and our canvas is people's hair rather than a piece of fabric. It's something that I love to do because I love to create — I'm an artist at heart, and it's just something I've always enjoyed.
