Meet Eric Glynn, Owner of Silverwood’s Golf and Lounge. We spoke to him and his team about Ottawa’s newest indoor golfing facility.
Please tell us about Silverwood’s Golf and Lounge and how the idea came about?
As the Owner, I’ve had a tremendous passion for golf since I was just a little kid. Born and raised here in Ottawa, and following a detailed analysis, and development of a Business Plan, it was realized that Ottawa needed a large indoor golf facility in the West-End. Trends show the increased demand for golfing experiences across the city, specifically in the Kanata/Stittsville area. What better location than the Kanata Centrum to house our headquarters. We started developing several business strategies, sought out financial support to kick-start the project, and here we are.
Here’s a description of what Silverwood’s is:
Silverwood’s Golf & Lounge is a high-end facility, incorporated in Ottawa, Ontario, designed to provide entertainment via Trackman simulation golf. The golfing experience is complemented with great food, beverage, golf merchandise and attractive surroundings. Each of our Ten (10) state-of-the-art golf simulators are linked to allow competition and record keeping. Customers are given an option to register a username with the center and keep track of their scores, see how they stack up with other users of the system, and track their performance throughout the year. Simulator software also allows for tournaments to be played with real-time scoring and statistical breakdowns of the entire field. It gives customers a quantifiable depiction of their golf game and will allow them to improve their skills. An avid foursome can play 18 holes in about 4 hours on a wide variety of courses for only about $50 per player. Compare this to a 4-5 hour round on a local golf course that can cost anywhere from $50-$90 per player depending on where and when you play.
What makes you unique as a business?
We offer the most luxurious, spacious indoor environment to golf. We use world leading technology, hire only the best personnel, and place an extremely high standard on the overall guest experience. With three distinct tiers of comfort, space, and class, we give each golfer an opportunity to select their preferred environment to play in. In addition to this, Silverwood’s has become a highly sought after venue for Corporate Events because of our expansive space that holds up to 120 guests, our ability to connect visual presentations on the numerous screens around the facility and because we have a full kitchen and bar.
Is Silverwood’s Golf and Lounge suitable for all ages?
Yes, we welcome guests of all ages to come enjoy their experience.
Do you have to reserve and if so, how far ahead should you book?
Our Golf Simulators can be booked through our online Court Reserve system 7 days in advance by our Public, while our VIP Members can book 10 days in advance. Hosting a party or corporate event? No problem, you can reach out to our Event Manager should you need to book an event or party well in advance.
How many people can you accommodate, can you hold private events?
We can host parties and/or corporate events for up to 120 guests (which includes 60 Golfers) but have a variety of hosting strategies to accommodate all numbers of guests below our maximum capacity.
How has TAAG supported you since becoming a client?
TAAG represents Silverwood’s through their Legal and Accounting departments, offering top-notch services to our company. We also had the pleasure of hosting one of TAAG’s events in the early weeks that we opened last year, and hope we will be seen as a “go-to” venue to host any TAAG events in the future.
Do you offer any type of membership or special rates for groups?
We have a variety of memberships to offer our guests. Whether you play as an individual, family, or corporate executive, you can customize the number of hours you’d like to play, in addition to receiving discounts on your golf, Pro Shop merchandise, and of course, non-stop savings through our Food & Beverage program. Absolutely! Local papers, radio, magazines, nearby golf courses, as well as many others have provided us with significant support.
